The $2million upgrade is proving popular with locals and visitors enjoying the vibrant look and feel. The covered central walkway with retractable roofing allows for all weather out-door alfresco dining. Underfoot, is a distinctive geothermal heating underlay to keep the area warm during winter.
The project has a “wood First” concept which includes a central timber structure as a focal point promoting the importance of forestry and wood processing in this district. The street surface between existing paving stones on either side of Eat Street features a patterned concrete design with a central walkway providing design linkage to the nearby Lakefront.
